Pickleball Melaka Open 2026

The Pickleball Melaka Open 2026 returns for its second edition following the successful debut tournament held in 2025. Organized to promote the growth of pickleball in Malaysia, this tournament brings together competitive and recreational players for a weekend of exciting competition, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

Building on the success of last year's event, the 2026 edition features an increased prize pool, enhanced tournament experience, and the introduction of two new youth development categories: Junior Doubles Under 15 (U15) and Junior Doubles Under 18 (U18). These additions reflect the Organiser's commitment to nurturing the next generation of pickleball talent while providing a competitive platform for players of all ages.

The tournament will feature Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories for players with a DUPR rating of 4.0 and below, alongside the newly introduced junior divisions. Participants can expect a professionally managed event conducted in accordance with tournament regulations and fair play principles.

The Pickleball Melaka Open 2026 aims to continue establishing Melaka as one of Malaysia's key pickleball destinations while fostering friendship, healthy competition, and the continued growth of the sport within the region. We welcome players, families, sponsors, and supporters to be part of this exciting celebration of pickleball excellence.

All registrations are final. No refunds will be provided under any circumstances.

Men’s Doubles                     RM250/pair

Mixed Doubles                     RM 250/pair

Junior U15 Doubles               RM50/pair

Junior U18 Doubles               RM50/pair

Punctuality

Players must report to their assigned courts on time. Failure to appear 5 minutes after scheduled match is called will result in a forfeit and a score of 15-5.

Code Of Conduct

Unsportsmanlike conduct (e.g. throwing of paddle), verbal abuse or inappropriate behavior towards opponents, referees or organizers BEFORE/DURING/AFTER the game will lead to immediate disqualification.

Media Release

By registering, participants grant the organizer the right to use photos / videos taken during the tournament.

a. Men's Doubles (DUPR: Intermediate Plus <4.0)

Age: Open

b. Mixed Doubles (DUPR: Intermediate Plus <4.0)

Age: Open

c. Junior U15 Doubles (DUPR: Not Applicable)

Age: 9 - 15 Years Old

 d. Junior U18 Doubles (DUPR: Not Applicable)

Age: 11-18 Years Old

Category Restriction

Players are allowed to register for multiple categories where they meet the DUPR/Age criteria.

Group Stage

Format         : Rally scoring to 15 points (switch sides at 8)

Deuce Rule   : At 14-14, sudden death (next point wins)

Match Format : Single Set

Outcome      : Top 2 each group + 4 best 3rd-place teams by wins, then point differential, will advance to Round of 16

RO16 & Quarters

Format         : Rally scoring to 15 points (switch sides at 8)

Deuce Rule   : 14-14 sudden death (next point wins)

Match Format : Single Set

Semi Finals, 3rd/4th & Finals

Format         : Rally scoring to 21 points (switch sides at 11)

Deuce Rule    : 20-20 Serve to win

Match Format : Single Set

Injury Time

A 10-minute injury timeout will be allowed. If a player is deemed unfit to continue, it will be considered a forfeit.

Timeouts

One timeout per team, per match - applicable for Group Stage, RO16, Quarterfinal, Semifinal, 3rd Place & Final matches.

DUPR Rating & Compliance

a.                  Players must submit a valid DUPR ID during registration.

b.                  Players must have a DUPR rating of 4.0 or below to enter the Men's Doubles category.

c.                  Players must have a DUPR rating of 4.0 or below to enter the Mixed Doubles category.

d.                  DUPR rating is not Applicable for Junior Player to enter the Junior U15 Doubles category. (Age 9-15 years old)

e.                  DUPR rating is not Applicable for Junior Player to enter the Junior U18 Doubles category. (Age 16-18 years old)

The Tournament Director reserves the right to accept or reject entries based on rating validity or sportsmanship. Multiple DUPR accounts are strictly prohibited. Any player found registering with multiple accounts will be disqualified and reported to DUPR. Any attempt to manipulate DUPR data or provide false information will result in immediate disqualification and formal reporting to DUPR.

Equipment Requirements

All paddles must comply with USAPA / UPA-A standards. Tournament officials and players reserve the right to Inspect equipment and may request a paddle change if non-compliant

Registration Cancellation & Refund Policy

All registrations are considered final and non-transferable. No refunds will be provided except under the following circumstances:

Full Refund Eligibility

A full refund will be issued if:

a.      The tournament is cancelled by the Organizer.

b.      The registered category does not proceed due to insufficient entries.

c.      A participant is deemed ineligible due to DUPR rating restrictions and no suitable alternative category is available.

d.      The Organizer rejects an entry due to category limitations or over-subscription.

No Refund Situations

No refund will be provided for:

a.      Personal scheduling conflicts.

b.      Injury, illness, or medical conditions.

c.      Travel or accommodation issues.

d.      Failure to attend the tournament.

e.      Withdrawal after the registration closing date.

f.       Disqualification due to breach of tournament rules.

Player Replacement

A player replacement may be permitted up to 7 days before the tournament, subject to approval by the Tournament Director and compliance with DUPR eligibility requirements.

Event Postponement

If the tournament is postponed due to circumstances beyond the Organizer's control, including but not limited to severe weather, government restrictions, venue issues, or force majeure events, registrations will be automatically transferred to the new event date. Refund requests in such cases will be considered at the Organizer's discretion.

Organizer's Right

The Tournament Director reserves the right to amend the tournament format, schedule, categories, or player allocations where necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the event.
