Get ready, Penang! 🎾 The Picklelab Open 2025 is set to be one of Malaysia’s biggest pickleball tournaments, happening from 31st October to 2nd November 2025 at Picklelab, Gembira Parade, Penang.
With a total prize pool worth more than RM60,000, this prestigious event promises high-energy matches, competitive spirit, and unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.
31st October (Friday): Men’s Doubles Novice, Women’s Doubles Novice, Mixed Doubles Novice
1st November (Saturday): Men’s Doubles Intermediate, Mixed Doubles Intermediate
2nd November (Sunday): Men’s Doubles Advance, Men’s Doubles Open

Note: Schedule above is an estimation of matches and schedule changes will deviate according to match progress. Detailed scheduling will be released and notified to participants after the registration closes and the pool draw is drawn.
# ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPATION
- **Age:** All categories are open to participants of any age.
# GAME FORMAT
## Group Stage: Round Robin
(NOVICE) & (INTERMEDIATE)
- **Scoring:** Rally scoring to 15 points. Sudden death, no deuce/serve to win at 14-14, 8 points change ends, no Timeouts.
- **Advancement:** The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the knockout round.
(ADVANCED) & (OPEN)
- **Scoring:** Traditional scoring to 11, win by 2 points if deuce from 10-10, no score limit, 6 points change ends, no Timeouts.
- **Advancement:** The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the knockout round.

## Knockout Stage
### Round of 32 & Round of 16 & Quarterfinals
(NOVICE) & (INTERMEDIATE)
- **Scoring:** Rally scoring to 21 points. Sudden death, no deuce/serve to win at 20-20, 11 points change ends, 1 Timeout per team.
(ADVANCED) & (OPEN)
- **Scoring:** Traditional scoring to 11, win by 2 points if deuce from 10-10, no score limit, 6 points change ends, 1 Timeout per team.
### Semi Final & Final
- ** Scoring: OPEN / ADVANCED Category: Traditional scoring to 11 BEST OF 3, win by 2 points if deuce from 10-10, no score limit, 1 Timeout per team per game, Match has 2 games minimum, potentially 3 game if tied from prior 2. Change of ends only occur if a 3rd game is played, change ends at 6 points.
- ** Scoring: NOVICE / INTERMEDIATE Category: Rally Scoring to 21 points (1 set only). Sudden death, 1 Timeout per team.

## Time-outs (Only Applicable During Knockout Stage)
- **Standard:** 1 time-out of 1 minute per team is allowed per game.
- **Medical:** 1 medical time-out of up to 10 minutes per team is allowed per game.

# DUPR & FAIRPLAY
1. All games played will be recorded and submitted to DUPR for rating purposes.
2. Players must ensure that they meet the DUPR requirements at the time of registration. Any player who exceeds the stipulated DUPR requirement will have their entry voided, and registration fees will not be refunded.
3. Players who don’t have a rating (NR) are allowed to participate in the Novice and Intermediate categories.
4. To ensure fairness and integrity in the competition:
- All players must register using their primary DUPR account. Registration under secondary or alternate DUPR accounts is strictly prohibited. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any player found in violation.
- The organiser retains the discretion to refuse entry to any professional or high-level player who appears to have an artificially deflated DUPR rating in either the Novice or Intermediate categories.
- Creating multiple DUPR accounts or using selective accounts to enter certain categories is prohibited. Violators will be reported to DUPR and banned from the tournament.
5. Players will need to check in one hour before their categories start.
6. Both teams must be present at their assigned court within 5 minutes of the official match call time. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit being issued to the team that does not show up.
7. In the event of a walkover, a score of 0 will be recorded for the forfeiting side.
8. The organiser reserves the final right to disqualify any participants who we deem to be over-qualified for the said category (Novice & Intermediate), even when a match is already in play.
9. The organiser reserves the final right to disqualify any participant due to unsportsmanlike behaviour or misconduct.
10. Participants acknowledge that Pickleball is a physically demanding sport, and by participating, you assume full responsibility for your health and well-being. Players acknowledge and accept the risks associated with the sport and agree not to hold the organiser and venue liable for any potential injuries.

# WITHDRAWALS
1. No refunds will be issued once payment has been made. Refunds will only be issued if the category is cancelled.
2. If a player is unable to compete, a replacement may be permitted before **28th October 2025**, provided that:
- The replacement meets the eligibility and rating requirements for the division.
- The change receives approval from the Tournament Director.
3. Any requests made after **28th October 2025** will not be accepted.
